From Lisson: Joanna Pousette-Dart

From her studio in SoHo and in preparation for a major new exhibition at Lisson Gallery New York, entitled Centering, Joanna Pousette-Dart discusses her considered approaches to the practice of painting. She reveals how her perception of the landscapes of Galisteo Basin in New Mexico and the wider world is reflected in stacked and multi-panelled works, variously balanced between symmetry and asymmetry, or between passages of light, space and shifting shades of color. From hand-drawn beginnings, the curvilinear forms are scaled up and fabricated as large panels, resulting in unexpected transitions and outcomes, conveying a sense of constant change.
