The organizers of Frieze Seoul have revealed the 120 galleries slated to participate in the fair’s 2025 edition, to kick off with a preview day on September 3 before opening to the general public September 4–6. As it did last year, Frieze Seoul will run concurrently with Kiaf Seoul, which centers Korean art. Both events are held in the COEX convention and exhibition center in the city’s Gangnam district. “We are excited to return to Seoul for the fourth edition of Frieze,” said Frieze Seoul director Patrick Lee said in a statement. “The fair has quickly become an essential meeting point for Korean and international audiences, and this year’s program promises to further deepen those exchanges—not only within COEX but across the entire city.”
As it has been since its 2022 inception, the fair will be divided into three sections: the main Galleries section; Focus Asia, featuring presentations of emerging artists; and Frieze Masters, offering work dating from the Middle Ages to the twentieth century.
Among the ninety participants in the Galleries section are such international behemoths as Gagosian, Gladstone, Hauser & Wirth, Lehmann Maupin, Pace Gallery, Thaddaeus Ropac, Sprüth Magers, White Cube, and David Zwirner, as well as Korean outfits including Gallery Hyundai, Johyun Gallery, Kukje Gallery, PKM Gallery, and Whistle; and Asian operations such as Manila’s Drawing Room, the Hong Kong– and Shanghai-based Kiang Malingue, Ho Chi Minh City’s Galerie Quynh, Singapore’s STPI, and Tokyo’s Take Ninagawa. Among the twenty new participants in the section are Athens’s Breeder; de Sarthe, which has outposts in Hong Kong and in Scottsdale, Arizona; and Los Angeles’s Make Room.
Focus Asia’s twenty exhibitors include Tokyo’s parcel, which will show work by Seungwon Yang, and Yogyakarta’s Kohesi Initiatives, which will present work by Liang Fu; while galleries including Seoul’s Bhak, Beijing’s Spurs Gallery, and W-galería, of Buenos Aires and Pueblo Garzon, Uruguay, will host booths at Frieze Masters.
