“For Dear Life: Art, Medicine, and Disability” considers the many ways that contemporary artists (including Yvonne Rainer, Félix González-Torres, and Simone Leigh) contend with topics ranging from disability justice to substance use disorders and the medical-industrial complex. In the January episode of “Under the Cover,” Artforum’s West Coast Editor, Bryan Barcena, heads to the Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego to discuss the exhibition, which is reviewed as part of the current issue’s focus on the Getty initiative PST Art: “Art & Science Collide,” with Senior Curator Jill Dawsey. Co-curated with Isabel Casso, the show closes February 2.
